Many of you don’t know, but my husband Ryan has recently been diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer with liver involvement. This has been life-changing news for our family. Ryan has always been such a hard worker, but now he is unable to work while he prepares to begin chemotherapy. As an independent contractor, he doesn’t have medical insurance or sick leave, which has left us facing an overwhelming financial burden. We are in the process of working with the hospital’s financial assistance program, but there are still major gaps for our household bills, medications, and day-to-day living.
